ri <br />cm OF (XONO, MINNESOTA <br />REGULAR PLANNING OOtMSSIC^I fCETING HELD MAY 17, 1976 <br />Ihe Orono Planning Conmission met on the d>ove date with <br />tiie following manors present: Chaiiman C. Paul Pesek, <br />menbers Gloria McDonald, Brad Van Nest, John Guthrie, Gregg <br />Hannah, and Zoning Administrator Henxy Muhich. Absent: <br />George Hosfield, Diane Dunlap, John H^, and Eugene <br />Hooley. <br />The City Council convened simultaneously to open the Pift>lic <br />Hearing in regards to the proposed Ring Route in Orono at <br />7:50 P.M. Maj^r Searles called to order the two public <br />hearings as per pii>lication: 1) the Ring Route proposal, <br />and 2) the consideration of a Multiple-Fanil>' Zoning Ordi <br />nance. <br />The public Hearing on the consideration of adopting a Multi- <br />Family Zoning Ordinance was teaqxnrarily defend mtil the <br />Pii>lic Hearing regarding the Ring Route was concluded. The <br />Pid>lic Hearing on the fSng Route was concluded at 9:00 P.M. <br />The Planning Conmission reconvened and Chairman Pesek com <br />menced with the Pid>lic Hearing with regard to a Multiple- <br />Family Zoning Ordinance at 9:05 P.M. The Zoning Administra <br />tor produced the Affidavit of Publication. <br />Mrs. Schroeder, who was in attendance, expressed an interest <br />as to whether ai^ provisions were made to include low and <br />moderate income housing. Attention was directed to these <br />provisions with Whidi she concurred were adequate. <br />Mr. Roberts suggested a change in the maximm percentage of <br />two family structures in multiple zones. He reconinended a <br />change from 20% maximum to an 80% maximum. <br />The Planning Commission felt more review would be necessary <br />befbre any dianges to the proposed draft could be agreed <br />upon. They were concerned about any possible conflict withupon. They were concerned about any possible conflict witn <br />our Comprehensive Plan or our ori^al intent with regard to <br />adopting a Multi-Family Zoning Ordinance. After all conments <br />were discussed and considered the Public Hearing was closed <br />at 9:25 P.M. <br />In order the expedite the issue Pesek moved, Guthrie seconded <br />the Planni^ Commission reccnmend adkiption of the Milti- <br />Family Ordinance, subject to obtaining a statement from John <br />Bergley of Wehrman Chapman Associates as to any impact any <br />change in deplex percentage might have on our Comprehensive <br />Plan or original intent of the ordinance.
