VILLAGE OF OROMO <br />Resiilar Meeting of the Planning Conmission, <br />April 19, 1971 <br />The Planning Commission met on the above <br />date with the following members present: <br />Cliairman Poisson, Butler, Elliott, Gasch, <br />llerfurth, Kuhlcneier, Kullbcrg, Nicholls, <br />Parten, and Southworth. Absent; nongoske. <br />Frank Child represented himself in an <br />application for a conditional use permit for <br />purposes of a riding stable at 3930 Water- <br />town Road, Section 32, Parcel 2900. Poisson <br />read memos on the conditional use permit and <br />s>)oived signatures of adjacent residents who <br />iiad no objection. Drought out in the evaluation <br />to allow the permit was that t!ie number of <br />horses kept on the premises varied from 7-25, <br />that the property '/as purchased prior to the <br />a<’ontion of the zoning ordinance and that <br />tiie usage prior to that time was substantially <br />the same as now, that the stable would be <br />used ns a riding arena during inclement weather <br />by the owner and people boarding horses there, <br />that the land area was approximately 4h acres. <br />After discussion on ordinance interpetation <br />and non-conforming usage. <br />Kuhlemcier moved, Gasch seconded, that it be <br />recommended that the conditional use permit <br />be allowed. Motion, Ayes (10) - Mays (0). <br />Willard Greenwood represented himself in an <br />application for a variance from Municipal <br />Ordinance 31.201, which prohibits the <br />placement of accessory buildings before a <br />principal building is constructed. The land <br />consists of 15,6 acres in Section 31, Parcel <br />1185 and fronts on Sixth Avenue North, Mr. <br />Greenwood stated that he wished to build <br />a combination stable and garage to house four <br />horses of a rare breed owned by him and that <br />tiie stable \/ould be for private use only <br />to conduct wJiat lie termed a hobby for himself. <br />Kuhlemeier moved, Gasch seconded, that since <br />Mr. Greenwood has owned this property and <br />an adjacent 80 acres since 1941, had horses <br />on the property at previous times and that <br />the stable would be practically concealed <br />from view, a stable and garage combined for <br />private use only should be allowed.
