D.H.R. <br />1200 Uarner Road <br />St. Paul HK 55106 <br />* • ■» l‘>77 <br />VlLL/iCc OF OROWO <br />Subject: 12CR RecoocDeDdatioDS coocerning the Issuance of <br />Rredging Permits by Other Igencies, and Applying <br />to the follov/iog Permits Specifically: <br />4»-^irV«»ieDd, Robert (Orono) <br />Curly's llinnetonha Marina, MOl ^77-6446 <br />Lord Hetchers of the Labe <br />Middleton, Blake (Beephaven) <br />*^orth Star Marina, DUR ^77-6329 <br />Smithtovn Bay Association <br />The Lake Minnetonka Conservation District at its lest regular <br />Board meeting, upon reccnraendations of its Environmental Com­ <br />mittee, wishes to make the follov/ing recommendations concerning <br />the issuance of dredging permits on Lake Idinnetonka, and <br />specifically affecting the applications above. <br />The UED Board of Directors recoomends that all dredging <br />permits, ezid particularly maintenance dredging permits on <br />Lake Minnetonka, be denied by the permit—granting agencies, <br />including the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District, the <br />Minnesota Department of Ratural Resources, and the U. S. <br />Army Corps of Engineers, unless it can be satisfactorily <br />demonstrated that: <br />1.Onshore erosion control facilities will be provided to <br />prevent ongoing siltation from surface runoff in ac­ <br />cordance with eJdsting M.C.W.D. regulations. <br />2.Suction dredging will be used in lieu of clam dredging <br />1/herever possible. <br />3. <br />4. <br />Ho cutting into beds or banks of the Like is included. <br />Inspection will be provided by qualified H.C.V.’.D., <br />D.IJ.H. or CoE personnel during dredging orerations to <br />insure permit compliance, including but not necessarily <br />Pf lolrd on Papef MaJe wiNi Becycle^ Fibers <br />I <br />..-A.
