2001*2002 Marina Licenses <br />September 6,2002 <br />Page 3 <br />The applicant has generally adhered to the seven minimum operation standards. Aspects of the operation <br />which require ongoing attention in order to remain in compliance with the operation standards, include <br />eliminating storage of marina equipment on the residential overtlow parking area, maintaining parking spaces <br />within the paved lot next to the building as opposed to fil'- . it with boats for sale, and managing parking <br />to minimize customer necessity of crossing County Road IS. <br />Staff recommends approval of a 2001*2002 license for Windward Marina. <br />B. Gen mar Industrics/King ’s Cove -1449 Shoreline Drive <br />Genmar/King's Cove provides 66 rental slips on Tanager Lake and 48 slips on Browns Bay of which 36 are <br />rental and 12 are used for boats for sale. Facilities include 71 parking stalls on the Browns Bay side of <br />County Road IS. This site underwent major renovation in 1997, including replacement of the old storage <br />building with a smaller office and restroom facility, upgrade of landscaping, a slight increase in parking and <br />a major expansion of the stormwater pond. <br />No activities occurring at the site require a conditional use permit. Applicants are currently in compliance <br />with the seven operational standards and the conditions of approval of the recent renovation approval <br />resolution #383S. <br />Stair recommends approval of a 2001-2002 marina license for Genmar/King's Cove. <br />C. Sailor's World - 1955 Shoreline Drive <br />Sailor’s World operates a ship's store, boat club (CUP issued 1995), and rents slips, with a current dock <br />capacity of 79 boats. This marina was reconstructed in the early 1990's. <br />Activities occurring on this site which require ongoing attention by the property owner in order to remain <br />in compliance with the seven operation standards include: managing parking facilities, including the use of <br />off-site facilities for overflow parking to avoid parking and traffic problems, keeping the storage of boats and <br />other items out of the designated landscape areas, and ongoing maintenance of the parking lot perimeter <br />stormwater filtration system. <br />Staff recommends appro^nl of a 2001-2002 marina license for Sailor's World. <br />North Shore Marina - 3222 North Shore Drive <br />The North Shore Marina operation includes 93 slips in the water (historically the City only allowed 86 slips, <br />but LMCD allows 93) plus a dry stack storage unit with 72 slots (all of which LMCD licenses but only 20 <br />of which Orono has historically approved for lake use). The property also contains a service building, an <br />office, a "club house" for slip U;,ers, and two dwellings, one of which is vacant and the other which has bwn <br />used occasionally as a caretal»r unit and which is cuiTently undergoing a remodeling.
