The City has recently received final copies of the new' Code, which includes alt <br />ordinances that were adopted prior to December 31 ,2002. Ordinances which were adopted between <br />December 31 ,2002 and May 27,2003 are included with Supplement I and will also be adopted as part <br />of the new Code. Prior to distribution of the Code, the City Council must adopt an ordinance enacting <br />the new Code for the City of Orono, Minnesota (see attached). Once the Code is adopted, it will be <br />distributed to those who currently have Code books. It will also be available in a computerized format <br />that can be easily searched by staff and citizens on the Internet. The Code is scheduled to be updated <br />quarterly on the Internet, with hard copies distributed once each year. <br />Changes to the New Code <br />The recodification is basically a reorganization of the existing code. Any substantive changes are <br />outlined in the attached Summary of Changes. An extensive review process was followed, with all <br />departments reviewing the existing Code and changes suggested by Roger Merriam, the Code Attorney <br />who woriced with us f^m Municipal Code Corporation. <br />Organization of New Code Books <br />1.The listing of Officials of the City of Orono. Minnesota on page iii reflects the officials in <br />office at the time of codification. In the future, an additional page listing the current officials <br />will be included and will be maintained as Municipal Code Corporation is advised of <br />changes. <br />2.The Preface beginning on page vii is a summary of the history of codification, the materials <br />used, and organization of the Code. <br />3.The Table of Contents beginning on page xiii outlines each section and chapter within the <br />Code. <br />4.The body of the Code is divided by tabs identifying each major subject (purple) and chapter <br />(cream). At the beginning of each chapter is the section analysis which lists die articles, <br />divisions and sections which make up the chapter. <br />di
