The grant allows the Orono <br />Police Department to be reimbursed S0% of any ballistic vest which is purchased in the next four <br />years up to $13,650.54. <br />Manufacturers recommend vest replacement every five years. Standard vests cost about $1,000. <br />This grant will allow the police department to replace vests as required, outfit new hires with <br />new vests, and to purchase specialized ballistic entry vests as deemed necessary. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to approve bulletproof vest reimbursement grant. <br />I
