In the agreement, the Excelsior <br />Fire District agrees to provide a broad range of services to Orono, including the provision of fire <br />protection service to the Navarre area during the years 2004,2005, and 2006. The services to be <br />provided also include consulting assistance in relation to getting the Navarre Fire Station operational, <br />including the recruitment and training of volunteer firefighters to staff the Station. <br />Although the agreement reflects payments to the Excelsior Fire District beginning in 2004, and <br />consulting assistance beginning in July of 2003, the Excelsior Fire Chief has already been providing <br />advice and assistance to the City of Orono in relation to the design of the Navarre Fire Station, the <br />recruitment and training of volunteer firefighters to staff the Navarre fire station, and the provision <br />of fire service to the Navarre area, for several months. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Motion to approve the Agreement and Contract for Fire Protection with tht* Excelsior Fire District.
