ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />MONDAY, DECEMBER 9,2002 <br />PUBLIC HEARING —Continued <br />There were no comments. <br />Mayor Peterson closed the public hearing at 7:05 p.m. <br />Murphy stated the City should prepare for 2004 when they will be greatly affected by State <br />budget issues. Moorse stated that the City receives $300,000 in Market Value Credit from <br />the State in order to reduce the property ta.x amount for homes that are worth up to <br />$400,000. The City could lose that Market Value Credit in 2004. <br />Mayor Peterson moved, and White seconded, to adopt Resolution No. 4902 adopting <br />the Bnal 2002 tax levy collectible in 2003. <br />Vote; Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />Mayor Peterson moved, and White seconded, to adopt Resolution No. 4903 adopting <br />the 2003 General Fund budget. <br />Vote: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />Mayor Peterson moved, and White seconded, to adopt Resolution No. 4904 adopting <br />the 2003 Special Revenue Funds budgets. <br />Vote: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />2bb. Update on Dakota Line <br />Gabriel Jabbour expressed his admiration of and appreciation to Mayor Peterson for <br />handling an awkward situation with grace and poise in their meeting w ith Long Lake that <br />evening regarding fire service. <br />He stated the City should thank Tom Skramstad, Shorewood’s representative to the <br />LMCD, and Lili McMillan, because they were instrumental in securing funding for the <br />additional Water Patrol deputies. <br />Jabbour stated that a letter was sent to Minnetonka Beach stating it is illegal for them to <br />adopt a comprehensive plan without Met Council first approving it. He stated Orono was <br />responsible for bringing the issue to light, and if Minnetonka Beach refuses to act on the <br />letter, Orono should be ready to pursue the matter further. <br />He stated he is concerned about the impact of the State’s budget shortage on the Highway <br />12 project. <br />Item 16 was moved up on the agenda. <br />I •n
