ZONING REGULATIONS § 7S-U10 <br />T <br />defined and established to be the low areas and <br />floodplain adjoining and including any water <br />course or drainage way or body of water subject to <br />periodic flooding or overflow. These areas are <br />divided into the following three protected area\// <br />distnets: <br />(1) Floodway district (FW). The floodway dis <br />trict shall include those areas designated <br />as floodway in the flood insurance study, <br />including without limitation the surface <br />and shoreline of Lake Minnetonka below <br />elevation 929.4 MSL, the surface and she re <br />line of other lakes, ponds and wetlands <br />below the ordinary high water elevation, <br />and the designated floodway of all streams <br />and flowage areas. <br />(2) Flood fringe district (FFD), The flood fringe <br />district shall include those areas desig <br />nated as floodway fringe in the flood in <br />surance study, including without limita <br />tion the shoreline of Lake Minnetonka <br />between elevations 929.4 MSL and 9ol 5 <br />MSL, the area between the floodway and <br />the edge of the 100-year flood on all other <br />lakes, ponds and streams, all designated <br />sheet flow areas, all intermittent streams, <br />and ponding areas and all lands contain <br />ing soil types classified as wetlands soils, <br />whether or not there is water standing on <br />these soils at any given time. <br />(3) General floodplain district CGFPJ. The gen <br />eral floodplain district shall in lude those <br />areas studied by approximate methods <br />and designated as unnumbered A zones <br />by the flood insurance rate map. GFP <br />areas may include both floodway and flood <br />fringe areas. Development of lands con <br />taining designated GFP areas shall be <br />contingent upon submittal by the devel <br />oper of topographic data (at contour inter <br />vals oi uc greater than two feet) and/or <br />other engineering analysis sufficient for <br />the city to determine the actual extent of <br />the floodway and/or the flood fringe. Upon <br />such determination, the restrictions of <br />the FW and FFD districts shall apply. <br />(Code 1984, § 10.55(4)) <br />Cross reference—Definitions generally, 5 1-2, <br />Sec. 7S-1109. Official flood protection maps. <br />(a) The boundaries of the floodplain and <br />wetlands conservation areas shall be and are <br />designated as shown on one or more of the follow- <br />ing official maps: <br />(1) Those areas designated and shown as <br />stream, lake, marsh, wooded marsh, sub <br />merged marsh, inundation area, intermit <br />tent lake or intermittent streams by the <br />United States Department of the Interior, <br />through the Geological Survey on maps <br />and supporting data designated as Mound <br />Quadrangle. Minnesota [NW/4 Lake Min <br />netonka (1958)1 and Excelsior Quadran <br />gle, Minnesota (NW/4 Lake Minnetonka <br />(1953)]. <br />(?> Those areas designated and shown as <br />wetlands soil types on the wetlands inven <br />tory and classification aerial plat map <br />overlays prepared by the Hennepin Soil <br />and Water Conservation District (June, <br />1975). <br />(3) Those areas designated and shown as <br />general floodplain, floodway or flood fringe <br />by the Federal Insurance Administration <br />on the Flood Boundary and Floodway <br />Maps, Orono, Minnesota, and Flood Ir.sur <br />ance Rate Maps, Orono, Minnesota, datec <br />October 17. 1978. Specifically included ii <br />the explanatory material and tabular in <br />formation contained in the Federal Insur <br />ance Administration Flood Insurance Stud; <br />for Orono, Minnesota, dated April 1973. <br />(b) The maps and studies designated in sal <br />section (a) of this section are adopted by referenc <br />as the official maps for the establishment of tt <br />floodplain and wetlands conservation areas an <br />are made a part of this article as if fully set out: <br />this lecticn.
