MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />Monday, July 12,2004 <br />7:00 o ’clock p.m. <br />(PUBLIC COMMENTS, Continued) <br />Sansevere moved, Murphy seconded, (o take the lock off and open the gate to Lydiard Beach <br />and to leave it open until fall. <br />Vote: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />ZONING ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT <br />4. tl04>3016 Henry Lazniarz of Wayzata Design and Development, 120 Brown Road <br />South - PRD Subdivision Preliminary Plat - Resolution No. 5204 <br />Sansevere moved. White seconded, to adopt Resolution No. 5204 approving the preliminary <br />plat for property located at 120 Brown Road South to allow clustering instead of 2 acre lots <br />with the condition that the setbacks on all lots be the setbacks required in the 2 acre zone. <br />Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />Murphy abstained from voting as he was not present for the Council ’s most recent discussion of this <br />application. He indicated he was looking forward to an opportunity for the Council to discuss the <br />broader issue of preserving Orono as a rural oasis. <br />5. #04-3024 City of Orono, Zoning Amendment - Large Vehicle Storage <br />The Council discussed whether the current ordinance should be amended to enable existing large <br />vehicle storage to continue within a set of parameters to protect neighboring properties from the <br />impact of the large vehicles. <br />Council expressed concern about vehicle distance from house, driveway visibility, noise impact to <br />neighborhood, appearance of the neighborhood, and maintenance on the vehicle while in the <br />driveway. <br />Mayor Peterson moved. White seconded, to refer the ordinance to the Planning Commission to <br />consider an amendment to enable existing large vehicle storage to continue through a C.U.P. <br />process. <br />Vote: Ayes 5, Nays 0 <br />6. #04-3027 Brenshell Development on behalf of Thomas James Properties, LLC, SW <br />Corner of Old Crystal Bay Road and Highway 12 - Sketch Plan <br />McMillan moved, seconded by Murphy, to deny the sketch plan for the corner of Old Cr> stal <br />Bay Road and Highway 12 as proposed. <br />Vote: Ayes 5, Nays 0 <br />Page 3 of 5
