Gappa THIe Director of Public Services Administrator Reviewed: Agenda Section: Public Services Director's Reportm Item Description: Navarre Municipal Parking Lot- 2 Hour I.imil The City owns, operates, and maintains the Navarre Municipal Parking Lot to provide public parking to serve the area business establishments, Navarre Playground Park, and Park and Ride parking for commuters. The Park and Ride commuters generally park in the lot. for long periods of time on workdays, and the majority of these people park in the areas of the lot furthest fn>m the business establishments and the Navarre Playground to allow use of the ct)nvenient parking places for short time parking by business and park users. However, recently there has been more long term parking in the parking spots closest to the Navarre Playground which diminishes the use of these parking spots by park visitors. The Orono Parks Commission discu.s.scd this is.suc at their May 3. 2004 meeting and approved a recommendation that the Orono City Council consider the installation “2 Hour Parking ” signs in the Navarre Municipal Parking Lot for the 3 parking spaces on the north side of the lot adjacent to the Lyric Avenue parking lot entrance. Staff Recommendation The staff recomtuendatitm is for approval of the attached resolution designating "2 Hour Parking ” in the Navarre Municipal Parking lx)t for the 3 parking spaces on the north side of the loi adjacent to the Lyric Avenue parking lot entrance. COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: Approval of resolution to authorize and direct the Orono Public Works Department to install signs indicating "2 Hour Parking ” in the Navarre Municipal Parking 1 ,ot for the 3 parking spaces on the north side of the lot adjacent to the Lyric Avenue parking lot entrance.
