I
April 13,2005
Brod d Donno Olson
3645 North Shore Drive
Orono, MN 55391
X
To Whom It May Concern:
We are the owners of 3645 North Shore Drive property. The purpose of this letter is to
protest a zoning variance application for a rooftop deck, applied for by the owner of the
adjoining property, 3635 North Shore Drive. This deck is non-conforming in accordance
with City of Orono code, and is also extremely intrusive of our privacy.
The deck is less than 15 feet fi-om the back door of our home. The bottom photo, taken
from our main bathroom, provides a clear view of its intrusive proximity; it seems you
could reach out and touch someone as they are walking up the stairs of this structure.
In addition to being intrusive, the deck was very cheaply built and aesthetically
challenged. Because of the close proximity to our home, anyone on the deck speaking in
a normal voice, sounds like they are standing next to us when we’re in our front yard or
in our home when the windows are open.
It is not our intention to cause the Landlord or Renter unnecessary difficulty or expense,
but this deck was built without permission or by following the proper rules of the City of
Orono and therefore should be removed in a timely matter following this ruling.
i
