MN 55356
Re: Navarre Water Tower Rehabilitation Project
FileNo.000139-04146-0
BM ReraHs
Bids were opened for the Project stated above on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at 2:00 P.M Transmitted
herewith is a copy of the Bid Tabulation for your information and file. Copies will also be distributed to
each Bidder. Thm were a total of 6 Bids The following summarizes the results of the Bids received:
Low
»2
#3
#4
05
06
CcMtractor
Qassic Protective Coatings, Inc.
Utility Service Co, Inc.
TMI Coatings, Inc.
LeadCon, Inc.
Diversified Coatings, Ltd.
JPI Painting, Inc.
Ease BU Amount
$203,23100
$217,33800
$248,220 00
$251,963 00
$335,000.00
$1,377,500.00
Alternate I fCItv Name}
$4,000.00
$3,00000
$3,200.00
$1,500.00
$2,500.00
$6,000.00
It appears that Bidder 6 made a mistake on one of the luiit price bid items, which caused their corrected
bid to be much higher than the other bidders. Bidder 6 listed the total amount for the fence as $7000, but
listed their unit price u $7000 per foot The Contract Documents require us to correct their bid in favor of
the unit price times the quantity of fence, which raised their Base Bid from $306,500 to $1,377,500 Even
if the City ignored this irregularity. Bidder 6 would not be the low bidder
The Bidding Documents allow the City to award the Project to the low Bidder for either the Base Bid
AnKTunt, or for the Base Bid phis Alternate I Amount. The low Bidder for either case is Classic
Protective Coatings, Inc. with a Base Bid of 203,231 00 This compares to the Engineer ’s Estimate of
$320,000 00. These Bids have been reviewed and found to be in order.
If the City Council wishes to award the Project to the low Bidder, then Classie Protective Coatings, Ine.
should be awarded the Prcject for either the Base BM Amount of $203,231.00, or for the Base Bid Pliu
Atterimte 1 Amount of $207,231.00.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (651) 604-4842.
Yours very truly.
BONESTROO.
