A building <br />plan prepared by Custom Design 4 Drafting,* Znc. dated October 1, <br />2004 was conveyed to us prior to the.-inspection. <br />The existing raaldanoe* located on a lakeehore lot, occupies a <br />“L" shaped foot print and cenMiata of a original aaction in the west <br />and a east addition completed in later years. Access to view <br />supporting eomponants of the residenee was provided through a <br />interior orawl space opening, a amall aeoaaa door on tha west aide <br />and a vent grate in the east. Although the viewing area was limited, <br />some aspects of tha structural, oomponants, par foundation plats 4/Al <br />of tha building plan were notod. <br />% <br />Observations mads through tha vast aooese door, near the NW oomar <br />of the structure, provided a limited, vigw of the west foundation <br />wall. The foundation in this urea was comprised of non-uniform <br />components consisting of sol1:1 maaonry brloka and eonerste bleoka <br />forming a wall of undoterminc:! width. Floor joist configuration <br />appeared to be of 2** x 6" at '.!4** O.C., with the 1st joist parallel <br />to the foundation, supported liy concreta blocka. No datamiination <br />could be Rkade on existing easl./west beams or other piers and <br />lootings providing support. The east addition Indicated 2** x 1?** <br />floor joists at 14" O.C. and a oantral aast/west laailnated beam, no <br />piers or footings for tha beau were noted in viewed area. Based on <br />mtasuraments taken through the east ventilation grate we, would <br />assume e B" oonorete block fotindetion for the newer addition. <br />Based on the Hennepin County nurfical gaology map, soils <br />within the area ara classlflel as DTC - clayey till, fine loamy to <br />clayey colluvium. These n.'turxl ooourtlng aubgrade soils are <br />normally considered acceptab1 - for construction. To evaluate the <br />relative boaring capacity ot the soils below the atructura, e <br />dynamic cone penetrometer test was conducted within the interior <br />orawl apaee on the soils at fioting elevation.
