Mabusth, Building & Zoning Administrator
Date:
Subject
June 12, 1991
Proposed Ordinance Amendment - Antennas -
Request for Additional Direction From Planning
Commission
Update on Review -
Since the May meeting of the Planning Commission, staff
received a telephone call from C. John Uban, consultant for U.S.
West concerning the status of the City's moratorium and proposed
ordinance amendment dealing with antennas. Mr. Uban was advised
that the City held a public hearing/work session for the benefit
of staff and the Planning Commission to consider the existing
ordinances as they relate to free-standing and attached antennas
for all zoning districts and to determine if it was appropriate
to amend the code based on preliminary directives of the City
Council and the opinions of the Planning Commission Members.
Mr. Uban voiced concern that neither he nor his client
received notice of the public hearing. Staff apologized and
advised that once again this was merely a work session and that
Mr. Uban would be given the opportunity to attend the meeting at
which time the proposed ordinance would be presented for Planning
Commission's review and comment. Mr. Uban has also suggested
that if staff concurred, he would have a member of their staff
who specializes in such matters review the ordinances enclosed
within your packets and make any recommendations as to other
municipal ordinances we may wish to consider now that we have
defined the scope of an ordinance amendment whereby only an
attached antenna would be considered.
The staff will schedule a public hearing at a future
Planning Commission meeting when the draft amendment is prepared.
Request: for Additional Direction -
At the May work session, the Planning Commission directed
staff to develop an ordinance amendment that would allow attached
antennas on structures at a specified height within the B-6/PUD
Highway 12 zoning districts. Once again, attached antennas are
only allowed as subordinant or accessory to principal uses within
all zoning districts.
J
