7 i <br />Tr <br />t! 4 <br />Nick and Nanne Simond <br />2007 Sugar Vv’oods Dr. <br />Long Lake, MN 5535^ <br />[line 6, 1991 <br />s <br />J\3M -1 <br />To; Orono Plan Commission <br />Re: Request for Variance of Driveway Placement - 2007 Sugar Woods Dr. <br />We are asking that the Orono City Plan Commission approve a variance in the <br />placement of the drive^A^y from the plan originally submitted and approved <br />last fall prior to construction of our home located at 2007 Sugar Woods Dr. <br />The attached survey shows both the original drive’//ay location (shaded) and <br />the proposed new location (dashed). This new location was established at <br />the time of excavation and was chosen by the excavator so as to preserve <br />several mature trees which are located directly in the path of the original <br />driveway location. These trees are identified on the survey. <br />There are several reasons we are requesting this variance; <br />The trees shown would be preserved. These trees provide natural <br />screening for the house and have been incorporated in our landscape <br />plan. <br />The slight curvature of the proposed driveway is a more attractive <br />setting. <br />The back turnaround area west of the garage is slightly larger <br />providing the ability to get into and out of the garage more easily. <br />The original driveway location would require several turning <br />maneuvers when entering and leaving the garage. <br />The property immediately to the west, nearest to the proposed driveway <br />location, is owned by Mr. Sidney Rebers. Mr. Rebers has reviewed the <br />landscape plan showmg the proposed driveway location and h'. approved <br />this plan. A copy of a letter from Mr. Rebers so stating his ap.noval is <br />attached.
