Orono, Minnesota <br />Executive Summary <br />November 2022 <br />SUMMIT BEACH MASTER PLAN <br />Process <br />In May 2022, the City of Orono enlisted the services of Bolton & Menk to help guide the City through a formal master <br />planning process of Summit Beach Park. The master planning process was a coordinated effort between the Park Board <br />Steering Committee, City Staff and the general public through meetings, open houses and surveys. In early June a site <br />analysis and online survey were developed to aid in the process. A second online survey was created in August to help <br />gather input on proposed amenities and their preferred scale. Three open houses were also conducted as part of the <br />project. The August and September open houses were held at Summit Beach Park while the third open house was held <br />in the Orono Council Chambers in October. Although the open houses were lightly attended, the feedback from the online <br />survey was strong. 277 people provided input with survey #1 and 205 people participated in survey #2. <br />Complete survey results and Open House meeting minutes can be found in the Appendix. <br />Existing features: <br />Summit Beach Park contains 4.8 acres of beach front property along the southeastern edge of Long Lake. The property <br />was donated to the City of Orono by Bruce and Ruth Dayton.
