AGENDA ITEM <br /> <br /> <br />1. Purpose. The purpose of this action item is to gain approval to replace the softener valves. <br /> <br />2. Background. The softener valves are in a chlorine enriched atmosphere inside the water treatment <br />plant and showing signs on corrosion and random failures have occurred recently. Parts availability is <br />becoming harder to come by to repair the existing equipment and reliability is a concern going <br />forward. The valves are over 25 years old. <br /> <br />3. Cost. We have solicited quotation from Kurita America Inc., they are the only supplier of that valve style, for <br />water plant softeners, listed below <br /> <br />Company Company / Model Cost <br />Kurita America Inc. New valves and related components $ 19,120.00 <br />4. Funding. This project will be funded through the Water Fund. This purchase was identified in the <br />2022 Capital improvement plan. The 2022 End of Year balance is projected to be $742,680.00. <br /> <br />5. Staff Recommendation.
