MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING OF JULY 18, 1983 Page 18
uml1 (1
JIL 1 81983 I: j
iLky
CITY OF ORONO
ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION
FROM: D. A. Taylor, 1880 Shadywood, Wayzata, MN
RE: Mr. Seifert's Variance Request
JULY 17,1983
I live two doors from the Seiferts and would like the Council to
know I will not go along with Mr. Seifert's request for an
extension of time to remove the small house near the lake.
I would have appeared in person to voice my feelings but poor
health prevents me from doing so.
I went along with his request for a variance in 1980 because I
thought the issue was only a matter of hard-cover. I was led to
believe at that tim** that removing the small house was not an
issue, that Mr. Seifert planned to remove the lakeshore house.
Also, I recall a tax problem. Mrs. Seifert had sold a house and
it was necessary to put some $40,000 of capital gains into a new
home or else pay taxes on the amount.
I feel Mr. and Mrs. Seifert should perform on their part of the
agreement with the City and object to an extension. I would have
objected in 1980 if I had realized there was a possibility that
the small house by the lake would not be removed within a few
years.
I have talked with Glenn Tillotson, 1875 Shadywood; he feels as I
do and objects to an extension of time to remove the house.
Frankly, we both feel that Mr. Seifert made an agreement with the
City and should keep his part of the agreement.
Respectfully,
D. A. Taylor
I
fm
mm
♦vi
m-C-
if
:/
m
sNv-
of
/
C
