Olson noted <br />that the Rebers property would also have to be served <br />through the Long Lake sewer system. Olson noted that <br />a new Orono lateral would have to be provided which <br />will require new agreements between Orono and Long <br />Lake. <br />Lynn Shaughnessy, owner of Shaughnessy Circle <br />subdivision, noted that they had approval from the <br />Highway Department to put in a driveway similar to that <br />proposed by HcDonalds. She suggested that the <br />HcOonalds driveway be located directly across from <br />theirs. <br />■S^.: <br />A <br />George Johnson asked why McDonald's wanted this <br />particular corner lot, when Willow has a better <br />location and Willow would have a better chance for a <br />future stop signal than Brown Road. <br />Randy Berg, representative of McDonald's Corp, stated <br />that they have placed McDonalds restaurants in all <br />different cities that have greater traffic problems <br />than Orono. McDonalds feels that this particular <br />location is a good one and that this store will not be <br />drawing more traffic from other cities but using the <br />passing traffic on Highway 12. Berg noted that the <br />McDonald's proposal meets and exceeds the City's <br />requirements for this type of use, so the main <br />questions are sewer and water availability and <br />traffic. <br />Mary Adams of Brown Road asked why they picked a site <br />with so many problems concerning traffic and access. <br />Randy Berg stated that no matter «rhere they pick a site <br />at there will be someone that thinks that they should <br />move it to another site. <br />George Johnson of 769 Brown Road feared that <br />increased garbage along Brown Road would be due to this <br />new restaurant. He didn't like a 24 hour restaurant. <br />Randy Berg stated that McDonald's proposed hburs would <br />be from 6:30 AM to 10:30 PM on the weekdays and 6:30 AM- <br />12:00 PM on the weekends. Berg noted that McDonald's <br />is one of the cleanest corporations around.
