INSTALLATION GENERAL INFORMATION
ADD THE BACKnU.
Backfill behind the base course and each successive ALLAN BLOCK course with well draining
granular fill (sand, gravel, pea rock, mixed soil). Clay and organic topsoil are not recommended.
Also fill the voids and pockets In and between ALLAN BLOCKS with granular fill and carefully
tamp down.
INSTALL ADDITIONAL COURSES
Position the second and additional layers of ALLAN BLOCK over the base course by staggering
the edges to be in the middle of the block beneath it. The setback angle is automaticaliy
established by placing the block tightly against the front lip of the blocks beneath it. Backfill in the
same manner as you complete each course.
CURVED AND SERPENTINE WALLS
ALLAN BLOCK walls are adaptable to complex designs and site conditions. Serpentine and
curved walls are built with ALLAN BLOCK'S special angle block. Inside curves are built simply
by placing the front faces edge to edge and fanning blocks to meet the curve. For larger outside
curves merely alternate regular blocks with angle blocks to form any line. For tighter outside
curves (r<3ft) all angle blocks will be needed. After your base course is laid, simply stagger the
blocks inthe successive rows above to continue the curved wall and to provide the interlocking
strength that the ALLAN BLOCK system is designed to provide.
CORNER BLOCKS
ALLAN BLOCK'S special comer blocks have a dual purpose. If the erxf of any wall is "stepped
down".the right or left hand corners provide a finished end for each layer. For walls requiring 90"
comers.the comer block can be alternated or linger grooved* to provide a perfect comer.
FOR TALLER, REINFORCED WALLS
ALLAN BLOCK'S unique design allows for a variety of installation techniques to achieve strength
in taller walls. Earth anchors. GEOGRID fabrics, rebar and poured concrete can be integrated to
provide strength for large scale projects. Consult your ALLAN BLOCK distributor for
pre^ngineered plans.
011/88
h'J • • A ^ II
