This is a unique circumstance for the city of Orono and not consistent with <br />other surrounding properties in the area. <br />The home has been vacant for many years and has been a challenge to work with for all the <br />previous Owners. The updates/remodel we proposed will improve both the function and the <br />aesthetic of the home significantly without imposing on our neighbors. We have discussed and <br />reviewed the plans with our adjacent neighbors who support the design. <br /> <br />- The special conditions applying to the structure or land in question are peculiar to such <br />property: <br /> <br />YES, this is one of the most unique existing structures in the city. We are looking to have <br />support in our design and the project to create a home that we can enjoy and raise our family. <br />We are not looking to set a precedent with this request and understand the uniqueness of what <br />we are asking for. <br /> <br />- the granting of the application is necessary for the preservation and enjoyment of a <br />substantiation property right of the applicant: <br /> <br />YES, we are looking to keep the structure of the home which minimizes other environmental <br />preservation to the lakeshore with a full removal of the structure.
