SPECIFIC6TION5 FOR ONSITE SEWAGE TREATMENT SYSTEM <br /> Lots 31 & 32, Morse Island Park <br /> Orono, Minnesota <br /> October 19� 1983 <br /> # 1980 <br /> GENERAI,s <br /> These specifications are based on the standards contained in the Minnesota <br /> Pollution Control OrdSITE SEWA(� TREkTMENT MANUAL as modified by local <br /> _ regulations contained in resolution No. 9 � City of Orono ONSITE SEWAGE <br /> TREATN�NT DESIGN MANUAL, adopted April 13, 1978. The installer of the <br /> system shall be approved by the city of Orono and shall be }rnowledgable of <br /> these standards. Except where speci.fically spelled out in this specifications <br /> the installer has the latitude of choice of materials, techniques, equipment <br /> and final construction configuration as long as they conform to the above <br /> standards. The design of the treatment unit (drain field) uses innovative <br /> materials manufactured and marketed by ADS (Advanced Drainage Systems Inc), <br /> and particular attention should be paid to proper handling and install.ation <br /> of this material. The installer should familiarize himself with technic al <br /> information on the ADS materials prior to installation. <br /> SYSTEM COMPONENTS: <br /> The sewage treatment system shall consist of the following; <br /> - �ao septic tanks in series. In lieu of two tanks, a single tank with <br /> two separate compartments ma�r be used. <br /> - One treatment axea consisting of SB2 tubing marn�factt�red by ADS. <br /> - Building sewer and appropriate connecting plumbin� to make the entire <br /> system function. <br /> DESIGN PARAr�^tF.RS: <br /> The following parameters have been used in designing the sewage treatment <br /> system: <br /> - DWELLING. Type III cabin with seasonal useo <br /> - PERCOLP.TION RATE. 21a minutes per inch. <br /> - LIMITING SOIL PROFILE. Seasonal high g�ound Water or impersrious <br /> stratum not less than 52 feet below grade. <br /> - ESTIMATED SEWAC� FIlDW; 218 Gallons per day. <br /> SEPTIC TANKS: <br /> �ro septic tanks will be installed in the general location shown on the attached <br /> location plan. The first tank in line will have a capacity of not less than <br /> ]A00 gallons. The second tank will have a capacity of not less than 750 <br /> gallons. In lieu of two septic tanks, one tank with two separate compartments, <br /> with capacities of not less than 1000 gallons and 7�0 gallons for the first <br /> and second compartment respectively mav be used. The intent of the system <br /> is that operation should be by gravity. Filling and grading above the <br /> septic tank(s) may be required, and careful coordination of the installer <br /> with the cabin builder will be required to establishe finish floor grade <br /> on the cabin with finish grade of the septic tanks and drain field. <br /> TOM SMITH ASSOCIATES inc <br />
