Its Effect on
Orono Residents
+
1.
The increased traffic alooig old Crystal Bay Road which fronts the Orono Schools
will add to the existing traffic hazard along the road and at the intersection
of Old Crystal Bav Road and I iighway 12 and thus result adversely on the safety
and welfare of Orono residents.
2 .
Additional mimic ipa 1 services would be required from Orono if the Vo -Tech is
located along Orrono's boundary. 71iis would result in an added financial burden
to the res i dents of Orono.
a. Police - Traffic control and security.
b . Sewer - !Municipal trunk line servicing school
c. Streets - Preserve and maintain.
3.
Me urban nature of a school would he :n conflict with. our comprehensive plan
which designates this area as rural. Also conflicts with our rural residen-
tial zoning of this district.
4.
Our cannrehens ive sewer plan has been designed to service existing problem
areas for the health, safety and welfare of the public - not for the purpose
of increasing deve 1 opment .
S.
The installation of sewer interceptors on tarok lines in this area will lend
to a more dense development which will result in a higher degree of hardcover,
thereby increasing the rate of flow of storm water runoff. The increased nm-
off ratio will acid to the pollution of the lake and ground water storage thus
affecting the health, safety and welfare of the general public.
6.
Urbanization of this area will have a deleterious effect on the environment
and ecology of the Village and once again affect the health, safety and wel-
fare of the general public.
7.
11iis sore urbanization will result in pollution and the requirement of muni-
cipal sewer systems - a financial burden to the residents of Orono.
8.
Increased traffic from the proposed site will only complicate existing traffic
hazards along local, County and State corridors. yet we've never been able to
obtain a f i nn conrii ment from the County or State departments for future
improvements.
9.
Increased municipal services that would be required for the proposed develop-
ment would deny Orono residents share of these services.
100
The irmortance of maintaining a rural aspect in this area was determined
by the Village after extensive review and expeTL%e. Reports from various
groups and agencies indicate the need for control of develorxnent to
protect and preserve the natural amenities of the district and maintain
the duality of lake water and water storage in Orcxlo.
is
N
a
To:
FRMI •
DA ,
SUBACt:
PL,A:.
