The purpose of this action item is to reject all bids received and direct staff to solicit new bids for a recued scope for the Watermain Replacement Project (22-023). 2. Background. At the January 24th, 2022 council meeting Council authorized the design and engineer of a water main replacement project along CSAH 19 south of CSAH 15. Staff and Bolton and Menk prepared designs and solicited bids. 3. Scope of Work. The project consists of the replacement of the water main the runs south along Shadywood Road (CSAH 19). 4. Cost. The city received 3 bids. The lowest bid was for $1,515,175.00. This is well above the funds available for the project. Vendor Bid Amount Bituminous Roadways Inc. $ 1,578,057.00 Geislinger & Sons $ 2,041,660.00 New Look Contracting, Inc. $ 2,530,025.00 5. Funding. Funding for the project will come from a combination of the water fund and ARP Funds received. Fund Amount Est. 2022 End of Year Fund Balance Water Fund $500,000 $742,680 ARP Funding $500,000 NA Total $1,000,000 6. Staff Recommendation. I recommend we rebid the project with a reduced scope to get the project under $1,000,000. The original scope included the main all the way from the Intersection with 15 south to Tonka Bay. The reduced scope will include the main south from 15 to Maple Ridge which includes the worst sections of the current main. COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED Move to reject all bids and direct staff to solicit bids at a reduced scope.
