The City of Orono is an Equal Opportunity Employer <br /> <br />CITY OF ORONO <br /> <br />Position Title: Community Development Director <br />Document Date: May 31, 2022 <br />Department: Community Development Department <br />Accountable to: City Administrator <br />FLSA Status: Exempt <br /> <br />Nature of Work <br />This position provides leadership in the Community Development Department and is <br />responsible for managing the daily administration of the city’s land use, planning, and <br />development efforts. Major areas of responsibility include coordinating the review and <br />evaluation of proposed development plans, building permits, and land use permits, as well as <br />administering the city’s planning and zoning policies and implementation of the comprehensive <br />plan. The Community Development Director also implements programs to promote the <br />community’s vitality, expand the local economy, and serve as a catalyst for new commercial <br />and industrial development. <br /> <br />Supervision Received and Exercised <br />Work is performed independently with guidance and direction from the City Administrator. <br />This position supervises Community Development staff to achieve effective delivery of service <br />for residential and commercial development. The position serves as the liaison to the City <br />Council the Planning Commission and related committees. <br /> <br />Examples of Work <br />Essential functions listed below are intended as illustrations of the various types of work that <br />may be performed.
