struggling bearers all while calling out to inquisitive restaurant goers to keep their heads
down. It's not safe and it's not secure. We both felt there was a huge opportunity for
improvement.
And this leads to our letter of support for a permanent home.
We have a jewel of an asset in Long Lake rowing, a noble sport that has great history, one of
the fastest growing sports in the USA,that aligns to our desires for a low carbon footprint, that
is inclusive across all ages from collegiate to retirement, low impact fitness and great fun.
Here's a 501(c)(3)non-profit organization that supports and enriches the community.Anybody
can partake, the club offers "Learn to Row" sessions through Orono Community Education
and folk might be surprised to discover an inner passion for the sport. We encourage all to try
it.
While Long Lake itself is ideal for rowing, it's also used for many other activities. In the
summer we see kayakers, canoes, paddle boards, powered watercraft, beach goers and more.
In the Winter it's active too, cross country skiing, hockey, ice fishing amongst others. We love
to see all of these sports enjoyed and partake in many of them ourselves. A rowing center in
keeping with the lake can further enhance all users by offering improved lake facilities that
provide a longer term investment for the township and it's patronage.
My wife and I are supporters of Long Lake rowing and what it does for the community.
Working together we believe that a beautiful facility that is safe and secure, that promotes
S activity and is shared within the Summit Beach Park location can be a landmark success for
Orono and it's residents.
We thank you for reading and taking our views into consideration.
Your sincerely,
Colin and Irene Balmforth
1699 North Farm Rd
Long Lake
MN 55356.
