The purpose of this action item is to gain approval accepting Officer William Persell’s <br />letter of resignation. <br /> <br />Background. William Persell was hired as a part-time police officer by the City of Orono on <br />November 7, 1994. For more than 26 years William Persell has covered thousands of shifts and <br />provided a tremendous service to the communities we serve. William Persell also worked in Oak <br />Park Heights for more than 10 years prior. William Persell has more than 36 years as a police <br />officer. On October 29, 2020, Officer William Persell submitted a letter and a two week notice to <br />resign from the Orono Police Department. Officer Persell’s last day is November 14, 2020. The <br />police department wishes William Persell the best of luck in his retirement and all his future <br />endeavors. We thank him for his service to the citizens of Orono, Mound, Spring Park and <br />Minnetonka Beach. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation.
