Orono City Council <br />Work Session Minutes <br />Monday, October 11, 2021 <br />Council Chambers <br />5:00 p.m. <br />Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br />PRESENT: Mayor Dennis Walsh, Council Members Richard F. Crosby II, and Matt Johnson. <br />Staff members present were City Administrator/Engineer/Public Works Director Adam Edwards, <br />Parks and Golf Courses Superintendent Josh Lemons, Police Chief Correy Farniok and City Clerk <br />Anna Carlson. <br /> <br /> <br />1. Interview Park Commissioner Candidates <br />The Council members interviewed the candidates. Council discussed the candidates and <br />directed staff to prepare a resolution to appoint all three to the Park Commission. Both <br />Kjersti Duval and Gordy Stofer will be appointed to serve until the current terms expire <br />on March 1, 2023. Cameron Porter will be appointed to serve as alternate until the term <br />expires on March 1, 2023. <br /> <br />2. Prosecuting Attorney Services Discussion <br />City Administrator Adam Edwards began discussion with a brief background of the <br />City’s use of Prosecuting Attorney Services. He noted the contract will be expiring in <br />March 2022, and there may be some interest with neighboring Cities to engage in a group <br />contract for services. <br /> <br />Police Chief Correy Farniok mentioned that he met with the police commission and <br />inquired about what other cities were doing and if asked if they would be interested in <br />discussing a group contract for services. Farniok noted it could be a 6-9 month process to <br />determine if this is something the city should pursue. <br /> <br />Mayor Dennis Walsh, noted that staff should notify Tallen of this discussion and see if <br />they would be willing to extend their contract until a decision is made. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The Council members consented that it would be a good idea to get it on order now. <br />Adjourned: 5:43p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />CITY OF ORONO: <br /> <br /> <br />ATTEST: ________________________________ <br /> Dennis Walsh, Mayor <br /> <br />_________________________________ <br />Anna Carlson, City Clerk
