The purpose of the council item is to gain Council approval to appoint a new Parks and <br />Golf Course Superintendent. <br /> <br />2. Position. The Parks and GC Superintendent position is responsible for administering all functions of <br />the Parks Department including the improvement and maintenance of city parks, trails, natural/open <br />space, grounds, playground equipment, lake access points, and golf course as well as overseeing the <br />recreation and events planning with in the parks system. This position is supervised by the City <br />Administrator/ City Engineer, and provides direct supervision to the clubhouse manager, assistant <br />superintendent, parks maintenance workers, and grounds keepers. The position is Grade 12 and FLSA <br />exempt. <br /> <br />3. Recruitment. The selection process for the position involved advertising the position, application <br />screening, and interviews. The selection committee consisted of the City Administrator, Finance <br />Director, Public Works Superintendent and Parks Commission Chair. <br /> <br />4. Recommended Candidate. The recommended candidate is Mr. Joshua Lemons. Joshua is currently <br />the Superintendent at the North Oaks Golf Course and has 9 years of golf course experience in position of <br />increasing responsibility. <br /> <br />5. Recommended Compensation. I recommended that Mr. Lemons be appointed to the position of <br />Parks and Golf Course Superintendent effective September 7th, 2021. <br />a. Salary. Starting salary of $78,799.59/ yr (Grade 12, Step 3) <br />b. Benefits. Vacation will accrue at a rate of 10 days per year and follow the personnel policy. <br />Vacation and sick leave accrual will begin on the start date.
