<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />CITY OF ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />NO. ________________________ <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE COOPERATIVE EFFORT FOR <br />BROADBAND IN UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES OUTSIDE THE METRO <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono has determined that increasing broadband and <br />internet services to residents is a top priority in 2021 and beyond; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono City Council is working in collaboration with <br />neighboring City Council’s by seeking support from elected representatives that serve our <br />communities at the county and state level of government for directing additional DEED <br />grant dollars for our broadband needs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Orono City Council believes communities like ours should not <br />be over looked just because of our geographical location, as our communities are not that <br />dissimilar from the overwhelming majority of rural and outstate communities that <br />currently receive DEED grant funding from the Office of Broadband Development; and <br /> <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE ORONO CITY COUNCIL, <br />that we support the collaborative efforts in seeking additional support and funding for <br />broadband expansion grant opportunities. <br /> <br /> <br />This resolution was adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, Minnesota, at a <br />regular meeting held April 26, 2021. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> ______________________________ <br /> Dennis Walsh, Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> <br />_________________________________ <br />Anna Carlson, City Clerk <br /> <br />
