The City of Orono is an Equal Opportunity Employer <br /> Provides administrative support, including: drafting documents, informational brochures, <br />and other correspondence and assists with site photographs and preparation of staff <br />presentations. <br /> Conducts research from the City’s files on properties for Planning Staff, other City Staff, <br />real estate professionals, residents, etc. related to zoning issues. <br /> Conducts research on land use and zoning codes using resources such as the internet as <br />needed. <br /> Assists in the administration of the Code Enforcement program. <br /> Leads the internal process of digitizing of city zoning files. <br /> Drafts and manages official Legal Notices monthly and as needed. <br /> Maintain zoning applications, forms and related documents throughout the application <br />process. <br /> May review and sign permits, as authorized. <br /> <br />Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities <br />Knowledge: <br /> English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language <br />including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. <br /> Law and Government — Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, <br />government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political <br />process. <br /> Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing <br />customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting <br />quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. <br /> Geography — Knowledge of principles and methods for describing the features of land, <br />sea, and air masses, including their physical characteristics, locations, interrelationships, <br />and distribution of plant, animal, and human life. <br /> Design — Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production <br />of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. <br /> <br />Skills: <br /> Reading Comprehension — Understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related <br />documents. <br /> Active Listening — Give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to <br />understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at <br />inappropriate times. <br /> Speaking — Talk to others to convey information effectively. <br /> Critical Thinking — Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of <br />alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. <br /> Judgment and Decision Making — Consider the relative costs and benefits of potential <br />actions to choose the most appropriate one. <br /> Organizational skills. <br /> <br />Abilities: <br /> Oral Comprehension — Able to listen to and understand information and ideas presented <br />through spoken words and sentences. <br /> Oral Expression — Able to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others <br />Commented [JB1]: Duplicative <br />Commented [JB2]: Planners
