The City of Orono is an Equal Opportunity Employer <br /> <br />CITY OF ORONO <br /> <br />Position Title: Planning Assistant <br />Document Date: January 1, 2016December 22, 2020 <br />Department: Planning & Building <br />Accountable to: Community Development Director <br />FLSA Status: Non-exempt <br /> <br />Nature of Work <br />Acts as the first public contact for the Planning Department facilitates as well as provides <br />general planning and zoning assistance to property owners, developers and contractors to <br />facilitate for successful development projects, compatible with the City's Comprehensive Plan <br />and in conformance with the Zoning Ordinances. Internally guides permit review processes. <br /> <br />Supervision Received and Exercised <br />The Planning Assistant reports to the Community Development Director and does not supervise <br />any other position within the City. <br />Examples of Work <br />Essential functions listed below are intended as illustrations of the various types of work that <br />may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them if the <br />work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position. <br /> <br /> Assists in providing written and verbal communication by providing general information <br />to the public on all aspects of City planning and zoning ordinances as well as wetland and <br />floodplain information relating to residential and commercial development. <br /> Ensures all agenda/informational packets for the Planning Commission and land use <br />items for the City Council are prepared for the Administration Department to copy, <br />assemble and distribute in a timely manner. <br /> Assists in the Manages the management of Joint Use Dock, Home Occupation, Oversize <br />Vehicle and Marina licensing programs including but not limited to file management, <br />reporting, mailing and receiving applications, site inspections and staff reports to the <br />Council. <br />
