The City of Orono is an Equal Opportunity Employer <br /> <br />CITY OF ORONO <br /> <br />Position Title: Building Official <br />Document Date: January 1, 2016 <br />Department: Planning & Building <br />Accountable to: Community Development Director <br />FLSA Status: Exempt <br /> <br />Nature of Work <br />This Building Official position is responsible for managing all activities related to ensuring <br />compliance with building standards. <br /> <br />Supervision Received and Exercised <br />Work is performed with limited guidance and direction from the Community Development <br />Director. This position supervises the building inspection staff/contractor to achieve effective <br />delivery of service for residential and commercial development. <br /> <br />Examples of Work <br />Essential functions listed below are intended as illustrations of the various types of work that <br />may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them if the <br />work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position. <br /> <br /> Plan, program, direct and participate in all building service activities associated with <br />setting and ensuring compliance with building standards. <br /> Perform, plan, organize, direct, and review the operations and activities of building <br />inspections. <br /> Review building plans for conformance with the code provisions and approve plans/ <br />specifications as necessary, perform plan checks for energy, plumbing, mechanical, <br />accessibility, and other codes. <br /> Enforce City zoning ordinances. <br /> Advise homeowners, builders, architects, contractors, residents and others concerning <br />building code provisions and construction methods including minimum standards of <br />construction and materials. <br /> Manage the City’s individual on-site Septic System Program. <br /> Manage the City’s SAC program
