The City of Orono is an Equal Opportunity Employer <br /> <br />CITY OF ORONO <br /> <br />Position Title: City Planner <br />Document Date: January 1, 2016December 22, 2020 <br />Department: Planning & Building <br />Accountable to: Community Development Director <br />FLSA Status: Exempt <br /> <br />Nature of Work <br />Administers City zoning ordinances, land use controls and provides planning assistance to the <br />Planning Commission and City Council. <br /> <br />Supervision Received and Exercised <br />The City Planner reports to the Community Development Director. This position is not <br />responsible for supervising other positions, however, the City Planner may guide the work of the <br />Planning Assistant.. <br />Examples of Work <br />Essential functions listed below are intended as illustrations of the various types of work that <br />may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them if the <br />work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position. <br /> <br /> Performs comprehensive reviews of complex variance, conditional use permit, <br />subdivision, PUD, and other land use applications. Prepares reports and makes <br />presentations to the Planning Commission and City Council on land use applications. <br />Provides follow-up to applications including written and verbal communication with <br />applicants, developers, engineers, architects, attorneys, realtors, etc. Drafts resolutions for <br />adoption by City Council. <br /> Assists in the implementation of the City’s conservation design requirements. <br /> Provides information to the public on all aspects of City planning and zoning ordinances <br />relating to residential and commercial development. <br /> Identifies and develops amendments to the Zoning and Subdivision Codes as required, <br />and prepares reports and drafts ordinances for adoption by the City Council.
