The purpose of this item is to update the Council on the purchase of a property on Old <br />Crystal Bay Road from MnDOT. <br /> <br />2. Background. Last year the Council approved the purchase of a piece of property on Old Crystal Bay <br />Road bordering Highway 12. The site has been identified as a suitable location for a new Public Works <br />Building and a possible Orono fire station. <br /> <br />The State of Minnesota has filed a quitclaim deed with the Hennepin County Recorder. The property is <br />now officially owned by the City of Orono. As part of the development of the property, the Council <br />directed staff to plan for the extension of city utilities to the property. This will require an extension of <br />the MUSA and possibly a rezoning of the property. The Community Development Director has contacted <br />the Metropolitan Council to begin the process of expanding the MUSA. Expanding the MUSA will <br />require an Amendment to the Comp Plan. <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br /> <br />Informational only.
