Three Rivers Park District will provide the City Council an update on the master planning <br />Process for the Diamond Lake Regional Trail. <br /> <br />2. Background. Three Rivers Park District is leading a master planning process for future development <br />of a new north-south regional trail through the western portion of Hennepin County. Identified as the <br />Diamond Lake Regional Trail, it will travel 20 miles through Dayton, Rogers, Corcoran, Medina, Long <br />Lake, Orono and Wayzata. The vision for the trail is a 10-foot-wide paved, multi-use trail that will <br />connect natural areas, other regional trails in the Three Rivers system, and local parks and trails. Trail <br />uses include biking, hiking, dog walking, running, and in-line skating. <br /> <br />3. Park Commission. The Park District presented the update to the Orono Parks Commission at their <br />February 1st meeting. The Commission voted to recommend the Three Rivers recommended <br />preferred route for the Diamond Lake Regional Trail to the City Council by a Vote of 5 Ayes and 0 <br />Nays. <br /> <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to approve the preferred route through Orono to be included in the Masterplan for the Diamond <br />Lake Regional Trail <br /> <br />Exhibits. <br /> A.
