The Pl�iuiing Conunission reviewed tliis applicatioil at a public hearing <br /> held on September 18, 2006 and recommended approval of the conditional <br /> use permit for the l�nd alterlti���s aud proposed s11ed based on the <br /> following findings: <br /> a. The applicant has met all City Engineer reconunendations. <br /> b. All building setback requirements are met. ' <br /> c. No additional lighting, except that required by the building code, is <br /> proposed. <br /> � d. The proposed storage shed will nleet all building height requireinents. <br /> e. The conditional use permit standards of Section 78-916 (a) (1-3) are <br /> met. <br /> 4. The Planning Conunission reviewed the signage element of this <br /> application at, a public hearing held on September 18, 2006 and <br /> reconunended approval of the conditional use permit for a campus <br /> mollument sign as well approval of the sign size variance, but <br /> recammended denial of the variance for height based on the following <br /> findings: <br /> a. The propei�y is approximately 4.38 acres in area and has frontage <br /> along Fernclale Road North and CoLuity Road 6 (Sixth Avenue North). <br /> b. The cunent Orono Zoning Code does not have sign standards for <br /> institutional uses allowed conditionally W1t�11I1 Residential Districts. <br /> Within Residential Districts a nameplate sign with a maYinzum of 12 <br /> s.f. is permitted. <br /> c. Tlie existing momunent sign is outdated, and in disrepair; the new <br /> monunient sign will be modern, l�rger, mltch the architectural style of <br /> the newly i•econstructed church and will be easier to see and read from <br /> the intersection. <br /> I'age 2 of 6 <br />
