The City of Orono is an Equal Opportunity Employer <br /> <br />CITY OF ORONO <br /> <br />Position Title: Public Works Support and Utility Billing Specialist <br />Department: Public Works <br />Accountable to: Director of Public Works <br />FLSA Status: Non-exempt <br />Union: Office and Professional Employees International Union, Local No. <br /> 12, AFL-CIO <br />Compensation: Grade 5 Local 12 Union Pay Scale <br />Revision: April 20, 2020 <br /> <br />Nature of Work <br />This position supports the administrative functions of the Public Works Department and provides <br />entry-level accounting work for utility billing while providing excellent customer service at the <br />front desk of City Hall. . <br /> <br />Supervision Received and Exercised <br />This position reports to the Public Works Director and does not supervise other employees. <br />Examples of Work <br />Essential functions listed below are intended as illustrations of the various types of work that <br />may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them if the <br />work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position. <br /> <br />• Provide customer service to residents, contractors and the general public regarding <br />information related to the City and/or refer them to the appropriate resource. <br />• Responds to individuals seeking information, takes detailed messages, and complaints or <br />record information and forwards to the appropriate personnel, receives applications, <br />obtains required data, and makes necessary determinations and calculations; answers <br />question and explains procedures regarding permits, utilities, billings, and other matters <br />requiring knowledge of city ordinances, departmental policies and regulations; assists in <br />completing forms, applications, permits and licenses, and arranges appointments. <br />• Administers permit programs, including: scheduling inspections, records, and processing <br />forms.
