fl\/EGt
MAR 0 2006 Morris & lackie Nelson
1900 Shoreline Drive
CITY OF ORO10 Wayzata, Minnesota 55391
March 10, 2006
City of Orono City Council
2750 Kelly Parkway, PO Box 66
Crystal Bay, Minnesota 55323
Re: Broitzman, 1800 Shoreline Drive
Members of the Council:
We are requesting that the Council deny approval of the plan being proposed for this
property. If approved, this project will cause undue hardship and have negative impact
on our property.
The proposed structure remains exceedingly large. Granted, it is smaller than before, but
at nearly 12,000 square feet of living space and 2920 square feet of garage, it is over 3
times as large as ours and the other houses in the neighborhood.
Garage space of 1920 attached plus an additional 1000 detached. Previous plan included
a garage of 80 feet in length. Now it is 64 feet in length plus another 38 to 42 feet
making it over 96 feet in length.
There is no landscape plan in the proposal as suggested by the Commission. If it isn't in
the plan, it's rather doubtful that it will happen at all.
Fox News calls them McMansions: oversized and completely out of character with the
neighborhood. (February 27, 2006). They are having negative impact on neighborhoods
around the nation. This project is a McMansion.
At the last Planning Commission meeting, Broitzman stated that since he paid a million
dollars for the property, he should be able to do as he pleases with it; a very selfish
attitude with little regard to the impact of others.
We do welcome improvements to the neighborhood. We urge you to deny approval.
Sincerelv,
; rl
, "
_,
