1VIINUTES OF TH]E <br /> ORONO CTTY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> 1VV][onday, Ocfober 10, 2005 <br /> 7:00 o'clock p.m. <br /> -(�+nc_��ru�xs-.-S�aloo�niaG-o:n�ti:�u�d� <br /> Peterson stated she prefers the access off of Heritage and that the applicant has talcen some good steps at <br /> reducing the size of the house. Peterson stated she still has some issues with the amount of massing on <br /> the lot and that she would prefer a smaller structure on this lot to better fit in with the neighborhood. <br /> Sansevere stated he is in a�eement with the comments of Mayor Peterson. <br /> Stephen Charrier, 1910 Heritage Drive, stated the home in the proposed location is less intrusive to the <br /> neighborhood than further back on the lot. Chanier indicated there are a number of nees between his <br /> property and the applicant's, which helps to screen the structure. <br /> Petcrson noted Ghai7ier's wife had concerns regarding the massing on the lot, <br /> Broitzman stated the footprint of the house is approximately 3400 square feet and the garage is around <br /> 1600, for a total of 5100 square feet. Broitzman inquired how mucl�nlore the house should be reduced. <br /> Sansevere suggested designing the house to blend in more with the neighborhood. <br /> Peterson pointed out there are no pro�erties in that area that have a four-stall garage. <br /> Muiphy commented the desi,z of the house should fit in with the rest of the neighborhood. <br /> Morris Nelson, 1900 Shoretine Drive, stated he is in fiill support of a nice project, Nelson indicated he <br /> has compiled a list of million dollar homes and that there are 33 homes currently on the market that are <br /> listed over a million dollars. Nelson stated he would be happy to have a multi-million dollar house next <br /> to his. <br /> White inquired �vhether the resident would lilce to see a house with more character. <br /> Nelson stated he would. <br /> White stated given the anlount of money being spent on the home, a nzore aesthe.tically pleasing house <br /> could be designed. <br /> Peterson stated a home �vith more character might be more ap�ealin�to the Council, Peterson indicated <br /> she personally does not like the design of the home. <br /> VlcMillan encouraged tlle applicant talce the tiine to design a hoine that is aesthetically pleasing and <br /> utilizes quality materials. <br /> Broiizman stated he has bzen a builder for over 13 years and that he talces ��eat pride in �vhat he does. <br /> Broitzman indicated his lasi house was constructed in Rustin and that a top prioriry of his is energy <br /> efficiency. Broitzman pointed out this house is 40 percent rnore energy efficient than �vhat the code <br /> requires and would only cost �67 per month to heat. <br /> �,s o^za �'� <br />
