CITY OF ORONO MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: January 27, 2020 <br />TO: Mayor Walsh, City Council <br />FROM: Dustin Rief, City Administrator <br />RE: City Work Hours <br /> <br />Staff received a request to review city work hours by Council Member Johnson. <br /> <br />Background: The City currently maintains the following hours <br />City Hall: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday thru Friday <br /> <br />City Hall Summer: 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday thru Thursday and 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM Friday. This <br />schedule runs from the Monday before Memorial Day to the Friday before Labor Day <br /> <br />Public Works: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday thru Friday year around <br /> <br />Police Administration: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday thru Friday <br />Police Summer Hours: 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday thru Thursday and 8:00AM to 4:30 PM on Friday <br /> <br />The City has four unions that represent employees that report during these hours. Currently, the Local 49 <br />(Public Works) agreement has their hours written into the agreement as stated above. All other unions do <br />not address regular work hours relative to this discussion. <br /> <br />The City has maintained a summer hour schedule in City hall and was established around 20 years ago <br /> <br />Below is a reference list for surrounding cities and their respective hours <br /> <br />Deephaven: City Hall 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday thru Friday <br /> City Hall Summer Hours Monday thru Thursday 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM and <br /> Friday 8:00 am to 12:00 PM <br /> Public Works 7:30 to 3:30 PM year round <br /> <br />Excelsior: City Hall 7:30am to 5:30 PM Monday thru Thursday year around <br /> Public Works: 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM <br /> Public Works Winter Hours 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM <br /> <br />Maple Plain: Window hours 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM Staff works 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with 1 hour lunch <br /> <br />Minnetonka: City Hall 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM year round <br /> Public Works Winter Hours 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM <br /> Public Works Summer Hours 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM Mid-April to October <br /> <br />Minnetrista: City Hall 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM year round <br /> Public Works 7:00 to 3:30 PM year round <br /> <br />Mound: All Staff: Seasonal Hours (May-Oct) M-Th 7:30-5:00 and F 7:30-11:30 <br />Regular Hours (Nov-Apr) M-F 8:00-4:30 <br /> <br />Orono: City Hall 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
