AGENDA ITEM <br />Item No.: 10 <br />Date: January 13, 2020 <br />Item Description: Accept Donation — Lydiard Beach Bench <br />Presenter: Adam Edwards Agenda Consent Agenda <br />City Engineer Section: <br />1. Purpose. The purpose of this agenda item is to accept a donation to be used towards the purchase of <br />a bench to be placed at Lydiard Beach. <br />2. Background. The City has established a Park Donation Program to give individuals, families, and <br />organizations the ability to enrich and grow our parks, trails and open spaces. As part of this program, the <br />City has received a donation from AdvisorNet Insurance in the amount of $650.00. The donation is for <br />the purchase of a park bench to be installed at Lydiard Beach. By accepting this donation the City is <br />agreeing to install a bench at the specified location. <br />Authority for cities to accept donation is granted by Minnesota Statute 465.03 which authorizes <br />Minnesota cities to "accept or devise of real or personal property and maintain such property for the <br />benefit of its citizens in accordance with the terms prescribed by the donor." All donations must be <br />accepted by resolution with a 2/3 vote of the Council. <br />3. Cost. The cost of the bench and accompanying plaque is $750. <br />4. Staff Recommendation.
