Regarding the side setback, it looks acceptable.
Melanie Curtis 2 952.249.4627 >- mcurtis@ci.orono.mn.us
From: Wes Sampson [mailto:wsampson@sharrattdesign.com]
Sent: Thursday, October 09, 2014 12:45 PM
To: Melanie Curtis
Cc: Mike Sharratt
Subject: RE: Hulbert Addition and Remodel
Melanie:
We need your input on another item.We are in process of revising the drawings for the Hulbert addition and remodel.
1. We have the exterior face of concrete at the line of the existing deck based on your previous comments to us
(see emails below); the 2.5" of the rigid insulation for the ICF (insulated concrete form) and the 1.5" allotted for
the stone veneer below the siding to grade are outside the line of the existing deck.
2. Where the screen porch occurs on the upper level the studs for the porch cant out 2" beyond the face of the
concrete below with the face of the%" sheathing applied to the studs to align with the exterior face of the rigid
insulation to enable siding to run from one level to the next without an offset.
3. Is this within the requirement that the addition must be within the outline or boundary of the existing deck? Is a
2" cant on 2 sides allowed for the screen porch? The screen porch is one level above grade.
We have attached a section at%" through the lower level wall at the bathroom and the elevation of the screen porch in
the background to illustrate the relationships explained above, we also have a proposed lower level plan at%" for you to
look at; the existing deck outline in the heavier dashed perimeter line work.
Call if you have any questions, we will wait to proceed until we hear back from you.
Thank-you,
Wes Sampson
Wes Sampson
Sharratt Design & Company
464 Second Street- Suite 100
Excelsior, MN 55331
Main: 952-470-9750
E-Fax: 952-767-5888
wsamgson(c1sharrattdesign.com
www.sharrattdesiqn.com
From: Melanie Curtis [mailto:MCurtis@ci.orono.mn.us]
Sent: Friday, May 16, 2014 9:18 AM
