Double wyes may not be used for drainage fittings in the horizontal position(see Minnesota Rules, <br /> part 4715.2420, subpart 3). Proper pipe slope cannot be maintained on both of the offset branches. <br /> 6. The submitted plans indicate that the new fixtures will be served by existing water distribution piping. <br /> Since the plans did not include complete information on the existing system, verify that it is sized large <br /> enough to accommodate the additional fixtures (see Minnesota Rules,part 4715.3800). <br /> 7. Water supply connections to fixtures or equipment which have submerged inlets, or inlets below the spill <br /> line of the fixture or equipment, must be provided with an air gap arrangement,approved backflow <br /> preventer or backflow preventer assembly as specified in Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2000 and <br /> part 4715.2010. <br /> 8. Water heaters must be installed so that they are readily accessible for inspection, repair, or replacement. A <br /> water heater with a tank capacity of 6 gallons or less may be concealed in a ceiling space provided the water <br /> heater has been set in an overflow pan (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2240 for requirements). Verify <br /> compliance for the water heater. <br /> 9. Verify that roof scuppers discharge to a place of disposal satisfactory to the administrative authority. In no <br /> case, shall water from the roofs be allowed to flow upon the public sidewalk. <br /> 10. The plumbing system shall be tested in accordance with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2820. <br /> 11. The copper water distribution piping must meet ASTM Standard B 88. <br /> 12. If plastic pipe is used for the drain, waste and vent system: <br /> a. ABS plastic pipe shall comply with ASTM Standard D 2661 or F 628. <br /> b. PVC plastic pipe shall comply with ASTM Standard D 2665, D 2949, F 891, D1785, or D2241. <br /> c. It must be installed in accordance with Minnesota Rules,part 4715.0580(F) and part 4715.0600. <br /> Above-grade horizontal runs of plastic waste and vent pipe cannot exceed 35 feet in total length. <br /> Above-grade vertical stacks constructed of plastic pipe may exceed 35 feet in total height only if an <br /> approved expansion joint is used. <br /> d. Solvent weld joints in PVC and CPVC pipe must include use of a primer which is of contrasting color to <br /> the pipe and cement(see Minnesota Rules,part 4715.0810, subpart 2). <br /> NOTE(S): <br /> 1. The scope of this project consists of two bathroom groups, a three-compartment sink, a mop sink, a <br /> dishwasher, a water heater and floor drains. <br /> 2. This facility is served by existing municipal water and sewer service connections. <br /> Authorization for construction in accordance with the approved plans may be withdrawn if construction is not <br /> undertaken within a period of two years.
