To: Chair Ressler and Planning Commission Members <br /> ADustin Rief, City Administrator <br /> From: Jeremy Barnhart,AICP F f Esxos` <br /> Community Development Director <br /> k <br /> Date: January 21, 2020 <br /> Subject: #LA19-99, City of Orono, Comprehensive Plan Amendment RE Trail priorities <br /> Public Hearing <br /> Application Summary: The City of Orono Parks Commission is proposing an amendment to the <br /> Park Trail priorities identified in the 2040 Comprehensive Plan. <br /> Staff Recommendation: Planning Department Staff recommends approval as drafted. <br /> Background <br /> Via Resolution 6991,the Comprehensive Plan was adopted by the City Council on June 10, 2019 <br /> after approval by the Met Council on May 23, 2019. Parks, Open Space, and Trails are a chapter <br /> of the Comprehensive Plan. <br /> In evaluating Park and Trail projects for the coming years,the Park Commission proposed an <br /> amendment to the priorities. <br /> The existing Trail priorities: <br /> io <br /> Priority Project Description <br /> 1 County Road The city does not support an on-street trail on County Road 15 due to <br /> 15 West of its close proximity to Dakota trail. <br /> Navarre <br /> 2 Navarre The city will actively partner with Hennepin county and Three Rivers <br /> Dakota Trail Park District to complete a trail connection along County Road 19 <br /> Connection connecting Navarre tote <br /> Dakota Trail <br /> 3 Old Crystal The city will support an off-street trail that provides access from the <br /> Bay Road Luce Line Trail at Old Crystal Bay Road to the Dakota Trail at North <br /> Shore Drive. <br /> 4 Wayzata Blvd The City is partnering with the city of Long Lake and Hennepin County <br /> Trail to provide a multi modal trail along the north side of Wayzata Blvd <br /> from the Luce Line trial to the western Boundary of the Orono School <br /> Property. The trail is being included as part of the CSAH 112 Turn <br /> back Projects. <br /> 5 Lakeview The city will plana trail that connects Lakeview Legacy Park to the <br /> Legacy Park County Road 1l9 trail as well as trails to the south that connect with <br /> the Dakota trail. <br />
