Assuming a maximum developed length of pipe between the meter and the most remote outlet of 340 feet, <br /> and a building water pressure at the meter between 46 and 60 psi, and using Minnesota Rules, part <br /> 4715.3800: Water distribution branches serving two kitchen hand sinks must be at least 3/4-inch in size. <br /> 4. Showers and combination showers-baths shall be equipped with anti-scald control valves. These valves must <br /> be of the thermostatic or pressure balance type in accordance with ANSI/ASSE Standard 1016-96 (see <br /> Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1380, subpart 5). The installer must verify that the maximum temperature <br /> setting from the factory is set or adjusted in accordance with the standard. It is recommended that the <br /> maximum setting of the discharge temperature does not exceed 110 degrees F. This office could find no <br /> evidence that the specified Cornerstone 45311 shower valve meets this requirement. <br /> 5. Whirlpool bathtubs and their installation must comply with the following requirements(see Minnesota Rules, <br /> part 4715.1240): <br /> a. Whirlpool bathtubs and their installation must comply with ANSI Standard A112.19.7. Whirlpool <br /> bathtubs that are provided with a pressure sealed door must comply with ASME/ANSI Standard <br /> A112.19.15. <br /> b. The waste control device must be located at the tub outlet. <br /> c. Panels must be provided to allow access to the pumping equipment. <br /> d. If a shower spray is to be provided, it must be equipped with an approved backflow preventer and an <br /> anti-scald control valve complying with ANSI/ASSE Standard 1016-96. <br /> 6. A water supply line to a spray/rinse hose on a shampoo sink shall be protected against backflow by the use of <br /> an atmospheric vacuum breaker(see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2110). Adjustable tailpiece sink systems <br /> must comply with ASME Standard A112.19.12-2006. The tailpiece must be of rigid construction (see <br /> Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1390, subpart 3). <br /> 7. Water closets in public bathrooms must have open-front seats, except closed-front seats may be used in <br /> residential or dwelling-type occupancies(see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1420). This shall include the water <br /> closets in Room Nos. 108, 111, and 205. <br /> 8. A full-way valve must be provided on the cold water supply line to the water heater(see Minnesota Rules, <br /> part 4715.1800). Equipment used for heating water or storing hot water shall be protected by approved <br /> safety devices in accordance with Minnesota Rules,part 4715.2210 and part 4715.2230. Verify that a <br /> temperature and pressure relief valve is provided for the water heater. <br /> 9. In each single-or multiple-unit dwelling, each family unit shall be controlled by an arrangement of shutoff <br /> valves which will permit each group of fixtures or the individual fixtures to be shut off without interference <br /> with the water supply to any other family unit or portion of the building(see Minnesota Rules, <br /> part 4715.1800, subpart 5). <br /> 10. The direct connection between a potable water supply and the lawn irrigation system shall be provided with <br /> an approved backflow preventer in accordance with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2110, T, and <br /> part 4715.2100. <br /> 11. The combination fire protection/domestic water service shall comply with the backflow protection <br /> requirements of AWWA-M14, Chapter 6 (1990)with the exception that the following statement is deleted <br /> from section 6.3: "At any time where the fire sprinkler piping is not an acceptable potable water system <br /> material,there shall be a backflow-prevention assembly isolating the fire sprinkler system from the potable <br /> water system." <br />
