• <br /> e " <br /> • <br /> . - <br /> 11111 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 167 ,SECOND SERIES <br /> AN ORDINANCE REGULATING OPEN BURNING WITHIN <br /> THE CITY OF ORONO <br /> The City Council of Orono ordains as follows: <br /> Section 1. Section 9.30 of the Orono City Code is hereby deleted. <br /> Section 2. The Orono Code is hereby amended by the addition of Section 9.30 as follows: <br /> Open Burning. <br /> Subd. 1. purpose. The purpose of this section is to establish permitted categories of <br /> open burn events within the City of Orono and provide for a permitting process for <br /> burning. <br /> Subd. 2. Definitions. For the purposes of this section,the terms defined herein have <br /> the meanings given them. <br /> 1111 a. Open Burning. Open p n burning means the burning of any matter if the <br /> resultant combustion products are emitted directly to the atmosphere withoutpasssine <br /> through a stack,duct or chimney. Open birrnin,includes Recreational Fires,&mall <br /> Brush Disposal Fires, and Large Brush Disposal Fires, fires for fire department <br /> training purposes,and fires for maintenance of native prairie areas. <br /> b. Recreational Fires. Recreational fires are allowed on any size lot provided <br /> that all other permit conditions can be met. Recreational fire means a fire set with <br /> approved starter fuel no more than three (3)feet in height and diameter, using dry, <br /> clean wood;producing little detectable smoke,odor or soot beyond the property line; <br /> conducted with an adult tending the fire at all times; for recreational, ceremonial, <br /> food preparation or social purposes; extinguished completely before quitting the. <br /> occasion;and respecting weather conditions,neighbors,burning bans,and air quality <br /> so that nuisance, health or safety hazards will not be created. Approved mobile <br /> cooking devices such as manufactured hibachis, charcoal grills,wood smokers and <br /> propane or natural gas devices are not defined as recreational fires. Recreational Fire <br /> Sites shall not be located closer than fifty (50) feet to any structure or twenty-five <br /> (25)feet from any lot line. An adequate water supply for fire suppression purposes <br /> must be provided. <br /> 10 • 1 <br />
