Koch Soil Testing
Box 81
Loretto, MN 55357
(612) 479-2637
Name; Date:5/28/98
Tim Sweezo
4480 Watertown Rd.
Orono,Minn..
JOB SITE:
The Above Address...
The present drainfield was determine not to in working order and did not comply to the current
City of Orono On-Site Sewage Codes. This determination was made by Mr. Steve Wickman the
On-Site Sewage Inspector from the City of Orono.
Two sites were tested to determine what type of drainfield could be installed and still comply
with the Minnesota Rules 7080 and the City of Orono Codes. .
The average percolation rate in the primary site ( Site-1) was 38.7 min/in. and the depth to
mottled soil was at 16 inches. While in the alternate site ( Site-2 )the average percolation rate
was 39.8 min/in. and the depth to mottled soil was at 17,20, &24 inches.
Mottled soil is consider the high seasonal saturated soil levels that exist during the wet seasons
(SPRING and FALL). The Minn Rules 7080 and the City of Orono codes require that the
minimum depth to mottled soil be at 48 inches or deeper before a standard trench system can be
installed.
Therefore with the above information the only type of system that can be installed is a pressurized
mound system and still comply with the local and the Minnesota State current codes.
The size of the mound system needed for a 3 bedroom home would be the following size;
* Sizing Factors: 1)Daily Water Usage 450 gal/day
2)Pere.
