Katterhagen Construction
1405 Olive Lane N
Plymouth, MN 55447
Re: Building Permit Application#2017-01417
.3425 Watertown Road
On November 1, 2017 the City received a demolition permit and a building permit application for a new single family
house. Staff conducted a preliminary review based on the information provided and recommends the following items
be submitted or revised in order for your application to be considered complete and for the plan review to continue:
1. Demolition Permit.
a. A site plan was submitted with the demolition permit application however it does not reflect all the
accessory structures on the property according the Hennepin County Aerial photos. Are those
structures being demolished or remaining? Provide clarification.
b. MCWD permit. Your notes indicate that you spoke with Elizabeth at the MCWD and a permit was not
necessary. I emailed a copy of your plans to Elizabeth and she feels your project has changed since
she spoke with you on the phone. Please contact her again regarding your project. Please note, the
City of Orono will not issue a demolition or building permit without a copy of the MCWD permit or
documentation stating the proposed project does not trigger any of their permitting requirements.
2. Certificate of Survey. Our engineer has reviewed the survey and has the following comments:
a. Other than two swales, the grading plan does not appear to propose any changes to grade. All
proposed grading changes should be shown on the grading plan. For example, there are window
wells shown but no grading or retaining walls are proposed. Please provide additional
information.
b. One of the two swales depicted appears to flow right through the well location. Please address
the swale so it does not conflict with the well.
c. The plan does not depicted sediment and erosion control. The Certificate of Survey should be
revised to indicate perimeter erosion control measures (silt fence, bio logs, etc.) down gradient
from proposed work. Measures must be installed by the Contractor and inspected by the City
prior to any work.Contractor must provide a minimum 24 hour notice prior to inspection.
d. The survey indicates the driveway location may change. A plan for the new driveway location
should be submitted to the City prior to any changes.
e. The first 50 ft of the driveway, starting at Watertown Road, must be paved in order to reduce
runoff depositing soil and debris upon the roadway according to Orono municipal code Sec 18-
136(f). A copy is attached for your reference.
